Aalborg, 2–3 July 2025. ALT-EDIC Director Edouard Geoffrois spoke at “The Future of Digital Investments in the EU”, a Danish EU Presidency conference hosted at the Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Center. The event gathered policymakers, industry and research to examine how Europe should invest in its digital future to strengthen competitiveness and sovereignty.
In his presentation, Geoffrois outlined how a Cuibhreannas don Bhonneagar Digiteach Eorpach (EDIC) is a practical vehicle for multi-country digital investments. EDICs provide a legal framework that allow Member States to pool resources and coordinate cross-border projects, with governance and financing tailored to long-term operation. He linked this to ALT-EDIC’s mission in language technologies, where shared data, evaluation and service delivery can reduce fragmentation and accelerate adoption across European languages.
ALT-EDIC will work with partners from the conference to advance multilingual AI infrastructure that reflects European needs and values. For more on the conference and the EDIC framework, see the Danish Presidency event information and the Commission’s EDIC overview.
